Self-Consolation 송미란展 / SONGMIRAN / 宋美蘭 / painting 2008_1128 ▶ 2008_1231 송미란_The wound in marriage Ⅳ_캔버스에 유채_162.2×130.3cm_2008 초대일시_2008_1128_금요일_05:00pm 2008_1128 ▶ 2008_1216 관람시간 / 09:30am~07:00pm / 일요일_10:00am~06:00pm / 공휴일 휴관 표갤러리 서울_PYO GALLERY SEOUL 서울 용산구 이태원동 258-79번지 Tel. +82.2.543.7337 www.pyoart.com 2008_1218 ▶ 2008_1231 관람시간 / 10:00am~07:00pm 표갤러리 사우스_PYO GALLERY SOUTH 서울 강남구 청담동 118-17번지 네이처포엠빌딩 B112호 Tel. +82.2.511.5295 www.pyoart.com 표 갤러리에서는 11월28일(Fri)부터 12월31일(Wed)까지 2008년 하반기 표 갤러리 신진작가 공모전에서 선정된 작가 송미란의『Self-consolation』展을 선보인다. 이 번 전시는 작가의 첫 번째 개인전으로 인간의 내면에 잠재되어 있는 상처의 흔적을 은유화하여 현실적 이미지와 초현실적인 표현의 복합된 뉘앙스로 형상화 해나가는 작가만의 독특한 회화세계를 선보이게 된다. 상처를 대변하는 내적 자아의 공간 ● 이 세상에 존재하는 것은 말을 통해 모두 재현 할 수 없는 비가시적인 무한의 영역이 있다. 비트겐슈타인은 “말할 수 없는 것에 대해서는 침묵하지 않으면 안 된다”는 말을 남겼는데, 예술가들은 이러한 침묵으로 묻어둘 수 밖에 없는 대상들을 밝혀내고 작품을 통해 감각화할 수 있는 방법, 즉 세계의 심연을 지탱시키는 비가시적인 힘들과의 소통을 모색하고 탐구해나간다. 송미란_Being left (Part Ⅱ)_캔버스에 유채_130.3×162.2cm_2008 송미란_Being left (PartⅠ)_캔버스에 유채_162.2×130.3cm_2008 인간은 누구나 상처받는 존재이다. 인간이 지니고 있는 상처는 불연속적인 단절과 분열, 소외, 갈등으로 얻어지는 결과의 소산으로, 현대사회의 인간들은 자의와 타의에 의해 서로 상처를 입고 입히며 살아간다. 작가 송미란은 이러한 인간의 내면에 존재하는 상처의 흔적들을 작품속에 드러내고 상처를 지닌 자아의 감정과 만나고 대면하게 함으로써 관객의 공감을 이끌어낸다. ● 작가의 작품은 삶의 경험에서 축적된 숨겨진 내면 무의식의 심리적 갈등과 상처로 인한 감성이 투영된 공간으로, 우리 모두의 삶 속에 내재된 보편적 감수성에 호소하고 있다. 송미란_The wound in marriage Ⅴ_캔버스에 유채_130.3×130.3cm_2008 전반적으로 작품에 부분적으로 개입된 고기(육고기)의 재해석된 표현은 날카로운 상처의 흔적을 표상하는 것이다. 붉은 색의 가는 선으로 중첩된 고기의 사실적 형상은 내면 깊숙이 존재하는 상처를 표면에 떠오르게 하는 것으로 작품의 화면에 초현실적인 분위기를 부여한다. 상징을 구사하는 붉은 고기는 다른 인식수단으로 포착할 수 없는 존재의 내밀한 양상들을 총체적으로 감각화해 낸다. 이러한 상징에 의해 추상적인 관념은 구체적인 이미지로 물질화되며, 분석적인 언어보다 훨씬 더 본질적이고 선명하게 관객들에게 다가가 심미적 감응을 불러일으킨다. ● 작가의 작품에서 상처로 대변되는 고기들은 우리의 삶 속에 드리워져 있는 멍에에 항변하는 침묵의 시위이다. 송미란_The wound container=My room_캔버스에 유채_130.3×162.2cm_2008 송미란_The meat raining in the city_3D 렌티큘러_90×110cm_2008 「Wound in Marriage」시리즈에서 신부의 화려한 웨딩드레스 밑자락에 부분적으로 흡수된 핏빛 고기는 결혼이라는 제도 속에서 빚어지는 갈등과 상처에 대한 가시적 서술이며, 연인의 이별을 소재로 한「Being Left in the Meat Raining Ⅰ, Ⅱ」에서 연약한 꽃잎처럼 흩날리는 고기 비는 타자와의 관계 속에서 이어지는 상실감의 흔적을 대변하고 있다. 또한,「The Wound Container=My Room」의 화면 속에는 ‘나’를 독립된 실내의 공간에 투영하여 일체화된 자아의 모습이 존재하며, 축적된 상처의 기억들이 저장되는 공간으로 인식된다. ● 작가의 작품세계는 이렇듯 내면적 삶의 형상인 상처를 드러내고 피할 수 없는 현실의 상처로부터 자유롭고 싶은 욕망을 반영하고 있다. 작가는 자신만의 독특한 시각적 진술을 통해 인간과 상처에 대한 고민을 풀어나가며 관객의 내면의식을 일깨우고 있다. 결국 작가의 작품은 우리모두의 무의식 속에 잠재되어있을 상처를 바라보고 아픔에 대한 연민을 통해 스스로를 위안하는 자기고백적 치유의식과 상호작용을 위한 내적 심리세계의 발현이라고 할 수 있을 것이다. ■ 신소영 송미란_Missing you_캔버스에 유채_130.3×162.2cm_2008 Representation of Wounds in our Inner World ● There is an invisible and infinite territory in which things existed in this world cannot be expressed by words. According to Ludwig Wittgenstein, an Austrian philosopher, “Whereof one cannot speak, thereof one must be silent.” However, artists try to find the way to visualize those objects that should be kept silent. In other words, they search for the way to communicate with an invisible power that sustains an abyss of the world. ● Humans are a being to be hurt. The wounds that humans carry can be seen as a product of a result of discontinuous rupture, disruption, alienation and complication. Humans in the modern society wound others by one’s own will or are wounded by another person’s will. The artist, Song Mi Ran expresses these traces of wounds that are existed in the inner mind of humans through her works, and arouses the audience’s sympathy by making them to face the feeling of their ego which carries wound. ● Song’s works lead us to the space that reflects our sensibility caused by the hidden and unconscious mental conflict as well as the wound that is accumulated from our life experience. Thus, her work appeals to a universal sensibility that is inherent in all of our lives. ‘Meat’ which is partly presented in all of her works symbolizes the traces of sharp wound. A realistic description of meat which is depicted with the repeated thin red lines can be seen as a surrealistic representation that brings out wound which is deeply existed in the inner mind to the surface. Red meat as a symbol visualizes the private aspects of a being that cannot captured by other means of recognition. This symbolic representation makes an abstract concept becomes materialized as a concrete image and arouses stronger aesthetic sympathy than other images. ● In the series of her works, Wound in Marriage, the tail of gala wedding dress is partly stained with the blood meat which represents wound and despair caused by the marriage system. Also, in Being Left in the Meat Raining I and II, the meat-like petals are blown away like it is raining against the background of the parting of the relations. In this manner, the works create the territory of lyrical sympathy, representing the loss and emptiness caused by parting. Moreover, the picture of the work, The Wound Container=My Room represents the inner and psychological expression through the image of an independent space. Seemingly, it can be recognized as the inner space which stores loneliness and solitude caused by wounds in human life. ● In her work, Song reflects the desire to be free of the inevitable wounds that buries inside us from a lyrical narrative. Song Mi Ran’s peculiar art style which solves the agony of human’s wound with her own visual language, mirrors wounds that remain latent in our unconscious mind.
